Told through the lens of three deaf adults in their twenties, The Way We Talk follows Sophie (Chung Suet Ying), who is optimistic and strives to be seen as ‘normal’; Wolf (Neo Yau), who embraces his deafness; and Alan (Marco Ng), who seems more at ease as a member of mainstream society. Despite their differing perspectives, the three friends develop a deep bond through sign language, supporting each other through life’s ups and downs. Living on the fringes of a hypocritical and often hostile society, can the three friends be their true selves, overcome the sound barrier, and use sign language to express their feelings?

![]() | About the Director Adam Wong is a Hong Kong film director and screenwriter. During his studies at the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he went to the University of Iowa as an exchange student and started film production. His works include She Remembers, He Forgets, The Way We Dance, The Way We Dance 3, which won the Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards for Dance Party in 2014. Her new film What I Said Today was shortlisted for three major awards at the 61st Golden Horse Awards, and won the Best Actress award for her work. | |
