When her mother Lai Kun divorces her cheating father, she leaves the family and moves out with her daughter in order to get custody of her, and the family's finances are in tatters. Her mother believes in her sister's idea of raising children for old age, and hopes that her daughter can become a successful woman and rely on herself in the future, so she has high hopes for her daughter, who has no qualifications. The mother uses all sorts of tactics to brainwash her daughter into believing that only the mother can do anything for her daughter's good. The daughter is eventually assimilated by her mother and tragedy ensues.
