When her adoptive mother dies, Hortense, a 27 years old black woman, decides to look for her real mother. She is overwhelmed when she discovers that her biological mother, Cynthia, is white and that she has a 20 years old daughter, Roxanne, who she lives with. Despite the panic Cynthia feels when she hears from this long-forgotten child and despite everything that separates them, a genuine bond of trust and love gradually grows between them.
