Violin student Rui Hasabe suddenly loses the ability to use his fingers. With music conservatory entrance exams fast approaching, he feels bewildered by the doctor’s recommendation of a brain chip implant. Instructor Gen Tachikawa’s lessons are full of harsh criticism, and Rui throws himself into playing the violin but can’t perform. He gets a chip implant for the entrance exam.

Rin Kokan is a half-Japanese, half-Chinese literature student who gets the chance to look after the cat of his favorite professor Hatta. He explores Hatta’s home while caring for the cat and comes to realize the potential of Hatta’s secrets and simultaneously descends into his own world of delusions.

A Story About Two Deaths (2022,20’)
Model student Chieri Igarashi and baseball player Kai Tadano are ostracized at their high school. After school, Chieri leaves behind her mother Sakura and runs away from home, and she sneaks into a recycle factory with Tadano. Chieri vents her feelings by smashing bottles against the wall, but Tadano isn’t in the mood. When she grabs his baseball bat, she realizes that he’s in a serious situation and makes a proposal.

Scapegoat(2021,21’)
Akeishi is utterly alone in the world and does dirty work for the yakuza Hiramoto. For Akeishi, his only shot at escaping his isolation and surviving is to win Hiramoto’s approval and become a yakuza. In the midst of days spent this way, he meets Yo, who works at a Chinese restaurant. He feels a sense of affinity with Yo, who faces similar circumstances. She has no place to stay, and he takes her in, but he finds out that Hiramoto is planning to sell her into prostitution.
However, he can’t let go of Yo, who is a salve for his loneliness. He decides to keep her in hiding and ends up killing Hiramoto, but he doesn’t get the resolution he expected.

“KA-E-SHI-TE” (Give Her Back) (2014,15’)
Mitsuki, a five-year-old girl, is headed by a single-female parent. Hitomi, her mother, keeps her daughter in leading strings and expects her to be perfect. Mitsuki tries to do her best to meet her mother’s inordinate expectations. Their relationship seems unusual compared to other parent-child relationships. Mitsuki gradually begins to seek true mother love. Eventually, she found it in Ms. Kandabayashi, her tea ceremony instructor. Ms. Kandabayashi comes to play on Mitsuki’s loneliness with psychic powers.
