The first installment of Wong Kar Wai's acclaimed Trilogy, ๐˜ฟ๐™–๐™ฎ๐™จ ๐™ค๐™› ๐˜ฝ๐™š๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™’๐™ž๐™ก๐™™ follows Yuddy (Leslie Cheung), a charismatic drifter who has never known his biological mother and was raised by his adoptive mother. Shaped by this absence, he grows into a restless womanizer, treating every woman he encounters with emotional detachment. He becomes involved with ticket seller Su Lizhen (Maggie Cheung) and nightclub dancer Mimi (Carina Lau), only to abandon them both. Determined to uncover the truth about his origins, Yuddy travels alone to the Philippines in search of his birth mother. Instead, he suffers yet another devastating rejection. Severing all ties with the people and places he once knew, he pursues absolute spiritual freedom, rejecting the constraints of ordinary life in favour of an unattainable ideal. Like the mythical bird that never lands, he is destined to remain forever in flightโ€”until that flight leads only to death.
