The Past is Always New, The Future is Always Nostalgic

Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's most iconic photographers, has become a street photography legend with his unique style of coarse-grained, shaky and out-of-focus images. Now at the age of 85, he still takes his camera to the streets to observe society.

In 1968, Daido Moriyama's first book of photographs, Japanese Theater Portraits, swept the art world, and in 2018, as this legendary work was being prepared for a reprint, the editors and book designers had to fulfill their mission by releasing a resurrected version of the book 300 days later at the Paris Photo Exhibition. This film follows the steps of Daido Moriyama, documenting the making of the book and revealing the master's life, inspirations, and journeys over the past 50 years.

Viewers are cordially invited to join the post-screening activity "St. Paul's Night Photography Tour ", where photographer Chan Hung Ngai will lead participants on a night tour of St. Paul's to capture the unique scenery around the cinema. Participants can use any type of camera or cell phone to create.

☞ Instructor: Photographer Akimoto, has more than 10 years of experience in photography. He has more than ten years of experience in photography. He is the official stills photographer of Macau movies, and has taken stills for movies such as Sisterhood, Madalena and Kissing the Ground You Walked On.
