A 40-year-old housewife, always frowning, accidentally injures an old woman at her daughter's basketball game. This seemingly trivial incident is the beginning of a series of life dislocations. The cracks in the family may have been hard to repair for a long time. With repressed desires and a marriage that feels like a prison, the days hurt like a tooth decay. She longs for a radical change, but there seems to be no way out. As the past resurfaces, she moves towards an unknown future.
Winner of the Special Jury Prize in the Encounters section of the 2024 Berlinale, Qiu Yang was nominated for Best New Director at the Golden Horse Awards, while lead actress Yu Aier was nominated for Best New Actor.This is the debut feature film of emerging director Qiu Yang.

 | About the Director Qiu Yang was born and raised in Changzhou, China. He studied film directing at the Victorian College of the Arts in Australia. His latest short film She Runs won the Leitz Cine Discovery Prize for best short film at the 58th Cannes Critics' Week. A Gentle Night was awarded the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 70th Cannes film Festival. His first feature film, Some Rain Must Fall, will premiere at Berlin in Encounters. | |
