Returning to the “Taboo” and “Carnival” of Cinema
The “Woke Culture” has forced us to re-examine the history of cinema. Elements that used to be common in horror and violent movies are now being questioned by the ethical values of the new era - it seems that movies have to find a “new right” and a new way to tell stories. The development of genres driven by commercial logic is more or less exploitative, but some commercial experiments have also brought opportunities for cinematic exploration, channels for marginalized cultures to speak out, and even the amplification of the dark side of human nature to complete the dialogue with the mood of the times.
In this talk, horror movie lover "Fatmoonba" will join me to talk about those once-popular horror classics. We'll talk about how the commercial genres of horror and violence have gradually faded and are on the verge of extinction, and at the same time, we'll explore the so-called “correct” and “incorrect” aspects of the movie through some new examples of genre exploration. We look forward to seeing you in the theater!
